LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

HWM (Malaysia) - - SPECIAL -

As mentioned earlier, we had the opportunity to meet the top management of OKI Data, which is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. There, we spoke to Takao Hiramoto, President, OKI Data Corporation, as well as Director and Senior Vice President, OKI Electric Industry., Ltd; Hiroshi Endo, Corporate Officer and General Manager, Products Business Department, OKI Data Corporation; and Tetsuhei Kawamura, General Manager, Overseas Marketing & Sales Division At this meeting, Hiramoto explained that OKI’s general strategy as a whole, is to apply a concept known as ‘Growth Through Diversification’. This concept, he explained, is to allow each and every business under OKI to develop and grow. OKI’s printing solutions though, will be given a large amount of focus. This is because this business has proven itself to be resilient and remains a viable source of revenue for the company. This year, the company will attempt to tap into the professional market, such as businesses that print commercial photographs. To do this, OKI will be aggressively promoting the latest 5-color printers, which is currently led by the C941. After Hiramoto completed his speech, Endo took over to speak more about the LED printing technology, which we highlighted earlier on in this feature. He also took the opportunity to introduce a number of the latest business-oriented printers, including the C941. He explained that the company is truly excited with the C941 as it is the world’s first printer that has an additional white/clear toner slot. This allows businesses to come up with unique graphic prints. Finally, Kawamura took over to speak a little about the company’s plans to bring in ATMs to Malaysia. Having produced ATMs since 1982, this company has plenty of knowledge to fall back on. OKI was the first to introduce ATMs with the cash recycling feature – a feature that relies on a single teller machine to perform both depository and withdrawal functions. What Cash Recycling does is essentially allow users to use the cash that was deposited from other users. All said and done, OKI Data has said that Malaysia remains an integral location for the company’s expansion plans. Local business owners who rely on printing solutions can look forward to plenty of innovations from this company this year, as well as the future.
