ASRock Introduces Latest Series 9 Super Alloy Motherboards to the Malaysian Market
Answering the demand of PC enthusiasts for motherboards for Intel’s new Z97 and H97 chipset, ASRock released the 9 Series motherboards at an event in Kuala Lumpur. Dubbed the Super Alloy motherboards, the 9 Series features compatibility with the 4th and 5th generation Intel Core (Socket 1150) processors.
The new lineup consists of the Extreme series for those who live at the cutting-edge of technology, the Fatal1ty Killer Gaming series for the hardcore gamer who does not compromise on performance, and the OC Formula series for the overclockers who like to push the limits.
All of the motherboards released were on display at the event. They all feature Supreme 12K Platinum capacitors, which are said to have the longest lifespan in the industry. According to ASRock, the capacitors are tried and tested to have a lifespan of 10,000 hours; a 20 percent increase over the previous capacitors.
To improve stability and reliability, ASRock implemented NexFET MOSFETs, which provide a lower RDS(on) of 2.9 mΩ power resistance between the power supply and memory module slots, resulting in higher efficiency and lower temperatures.
The new metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor also protects against electrostatic discharge and offers up to 7.5 times the electrostatic discharge protection levels compared to traditional MOSFETs.
According to ASRock, this is achieved by stacking two dies into one MOSFET, creating a large die area. When compared to traditional discrete MOSFET, a larger die area helps power supply to run CPU Vcore more efficiently.
Additionally, ASRock provides premium alloy chokes to further increase performance by up to 90 percent in saturation current. It also features a highly magnetic and heat-resistant design. This too increases efficiency, stability and reliability compared to other motherboards that use iron powder chokes.
For better heat dissipation ASRock uses a larger aluminum alloy heatsink design on the Series 9 motherboards. As a result, the MOSFETs and chipset area are well covered by the massive heatsinks to protect them from overheating.
