ASRock In­tro­duces Lat­est Se­ries 9 Su­per Al­loy Moth­er­boards to the Malaysian Mar­ket

An­swer­ing the de­mand of PC en­thu­si­asts for moth­er­boards for In­tel’s new Z97 and H97 chipset, ASRock re­leased the 9 Se­ries moth­er­boards at an event in Kuala Lumpur. Dubbed the Su­per Al­loy moth­er­boards, the 9 Se­ries fea­tures com­pat­i­bil­ity with the 4th and 5th gen­er­a­tion In­tel Core (Socket 1150) pro­ces­sors.

The new lineup con­sists of the Ex­treme se­ries for those who live at the cut­ting-edge of tech­nol­ogy, the Fatal1ty Killer Gam­ing se­ries for the hard­core gamer who does not com­pro­mise on per­for­mance, and the OC For­mula se­ries for the over­clock­ers who like to push the lim­its.

All of the moth­er­boards re­leased were on dis­play at the event. They all fea­ture Supreme 12K Plat­inum ca­pac­i­tors, which are said to have the long­est life­span in the in­dus­try. Ac­cord­ing to ASRock, the ca­pac­i­tors are tried and tested to have a life­span of 10,000 hours; a 20 per­cent in­crease over the pre­vi­ous ca­pac­i­tors.

To im­prove sta­bil­ity and re­li­a­bil­ity, ASRock im­ple­mented NexFET MOSFETs, which pro­vide a lower RDS(on) of 2.9 mΩ power re­sis­tance be­tween the power sup­ply and mem­ory mod­ule slots, re­sult­ing in higher ef­fi­ciency and lower tem­per­a­tures.

The new metal-ox­ide-semi­con­duc­tor field-ef­fect tran­sis­tor also pro­tects against elec­tro­static dis­charge and of­fers up to 7.5 times the elec­tro­static dis­charge pro­tec­tion lev­els com­pared to tra­di­tional MOSFETs.

Ac­cord­ing to ASRock, this is achieved by stack­ing two dies into one MOSFET, cre­at­ing a large die area. When com­pared to tra­di­tional dis­crete MOSFET, a larger die area helps power sup­ply to run CPU Vcore more ef­fi­ciently.

Ad­di­tion­ally, ASRock pro­vides pre­mium al­loy chokes to fur­ther in­crease per­for­mance by up to 90 per­cent in sat­u­ra­tion cur­rent. It also fea­tures a highly mag­netic and heat-re­sis­tant de­sign. This too in­creases ef­fi­ciency, sta­bil­ity and re­li­a­bil­ity com­pared to other moth­er­boards that use iron pow­der chokes.

For bet­ter heat dis­si­pa­tion ASRock uses a larger alu­minum al­loy heatsink de­sign on the Se­ries 9 moth­er­boards. As a re­sult, the MOSFETs and chipset area are well cov­ered by the mas­sive heatsinks to pro­tect them from over­heat­ing.
