PAY OR PLAY
Our smartphones have long served to stave boredom during daily commutes and long-haul flights, and we find ourselves favoring mobile games with quick, pick-me-up gameplay in the hopes that they provide enough short bursts of fun to get us through the lull. However, these moments of bliss are usually short-lived when the dreaded in-app purchases rear their ugly heads just when things start to get interesting. Thankfully, Beyond Gravity is nothing like that. This procedurally-generated platformer actually has the player rely on their hand-eye coordination skills, and not spend actual money to unlock upgrades and features. After all, the game is all about jumping from one planet to the next, and collecting as many pickups as you can. Along the way, players will face additional obstacles, which serve to reset the multiplier and plunge the bearded space explorer to his doom. NOT A SEQUEL TO THAT SANDRA BULLOCK MOVIE While the gameplay may sound repetitive, developer Qwiboo introduced over 30 goals, which when achieved, reward the player with sizable loots that can then be used to unlock upgrades, such as 3x multiplier, triple jump, and additional costumes. We absolutely adore its old-school cartoon graphics, one-button simplicity, and replayability value.
