Bug Pre­vents An­droid Wear De­vices from In­stalling Paid Apps

With the an­nounce­ment of An­droid Wear at this year's Google I/O, the com­pany's fo­cus has now been rein­vig­o­rated with a new push for more wear­ables. How­ever, prom­i­nent is­sues have al­ready started aris­ing with apps that tar­get Wear de­vices. A bug in Google's app en­cryp­tion pre­vents paid apps from be­ing in­stalled on An­droid Wear de­vices. The app en­cryp­tion fea­ture was ini­tially added to the Google Play Store in order to en­code paid apps with a de­vice-spe­cific key. How­ever, due to the app en­cryp­tion, An­droid Wear de­vices were un­able to ex­tract

the file of the en­crypted APK.
