Technology Startup Ebizu Named ‘2015 Asia Pacific Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) in Connected Retail Company of the Year’ by Frost & Sullivan
In recognition of the company’s empowerment of retailers with online and offline capabilities using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons, Malaysian startup Ebizu was awarded the 2015 Asia Pacific BLE in Connected Retail Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan.
Founded in 2013, Ebizu now has a suite of products that provides end-toend retail solution for physical retail outlets in Malaysia and the Southeast Asia region. Its goal is to transform small and medium retailers, and increase their awareness to get online and leverage the opportunities made available by the increasing adoption of smartphones.
“Increasing penetration of smartphones and mobile Internet is heavily influencing the lifestyle and shopping experience of retail shoppers in the Asia Pacific region. While online retailers are well positioned to capture on this trend, a gap exists between the brick and mortar retailers and mobile technology. Ebizu’s BLE-incorporated integrated retail solutions empower the offline retailers with the knowledge of the customers’ journey, which helps them to engage with the customer at the right time and optimize sale conversions,” said Vivek K. Raghu, Senior Research Analyst for Asia Pacific Automation and Electronics Practice at Frost & Sullivan.
According to Ebizu, the company has installed over 8,000 BLE beacons in the region to date, with thousands more to be installed over the next year. In combination with Wi-Fi and device sensors, they are able to position app users inside a building, such as a mall, department store, or retail outlets. With it, app developers can develop applications for businesses in physical locations to monetize.
