ASEAN En­trepreneurs to be Cel­e­brated at the First Rice Bowl Startup Awards

The Rice Bowl Startup Award is set to be the apex of the 1Asean En­trepreneur­ship Sum­mit (1AES). Held to rec­og­nize break­out star­tups in the re­gion that har­nesses dig­i­tal tech­nol­ogy, the awards honor ris­ing en­trepreneurs in var­i­ous cat­e­gories.

376 en­tries from nine coun­tries across South East Asia sub­mit­ted their en­tries dur­ing nom­i­na­tions. 35 judges nar­rowed down the hope­fuls into 31 nom­i­nees that are sep­a­rated into 11 cat­e­gories.

Th­ese cat­e­gories in­clude: re­tail startup of the year, me­dia startup of the year, dig­i­tal/on­line startup of the year, so­cial en­ter­prise startup of the year, tech startup of the year, prod­uct startup of the year, ser­vice startup of the year, and in­no­va­tive go-to-mar­ket startup of the year.

In ad­di­tional to th­ese awards, there are two other spon­sored awards, and an award specif­i­cally for women in busi­ness startup of the year. In ad­di­tion, all nom­i­nees are in the run­ning for the Golden Rice Bowl Awards.

Fi­nal­ists will be judged by the Rice Bowl Startup Awards Grand Jury, and the win­ners will be an­nounced dur­ing the gala event clos­ing the 1ASEAN En­trepreneur­ship Sum­mit on Novem­ber 22 in Kuala Lumpur.

Nom­i­nees con­sist of 13 en­tries from Sin­ga­pore, eight from Malaysia, five from the Philip­pines, three from Myan­mar, two from Thai­land, and two from In­done­sia.

The award was in­tro­duced by the New En­trepreneurs Foundation, a non-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion whose aim is to cre­ate and de­velop sus­tain­able en­trepreneurs through de­vel­op­ment pro­grams.
