DECEMBER 2015 Earlier this year, we were treated to a wide range of curved Ultra HD (or 4K) TVs that were released consecutively into the country's market. While still a premium entertainment device to own, there's no denying that these sleek, curved 4K TVs have slowly been encroaching into the homes of those who can actually afford them. In this issue, we take a look at a new entry from LG, which is also an industry first: the 65EC970T Curved 4K OLED TV.

What's make this curved 4K TV so particularly special? To start, it's currently the world's only TV with a “perfect” curved display that is made from OLED, instead of the more common LED LCD. The difference between the two lies in the way OLED functions: instead of being illuminated by an LED backlight, the pixels in OLED TVs are able to independently illuminate themselves, thus providing a richer, brighter, and less washed out image on the screen.

Further enhancing the OLED's color accuracy is another piece of proprietary technology from LG: Perfect

Perfect Black is a color that ultimately brings out the vibrancy of other colors.
