Huawei Claims Record Smartphone Sales of US$20 Billion
Huawei, the Chinese company that primarily deals with networking and business solutions, recently reported a recordbreaking growth in its Consumer Business Group division.
The Shenzhen-based company recently reported that its revenue stream had already exceeded US$20 billion (approx. RM88.1 billion) by the end of 2015 last year. Huawei contributed this factor to its smartphone sales, which coincidentally surpassed the 108 million mark last year.
The massive sales growth has undoubtedly helped the company to cement its position as one of the top three smartphone companies globally, as well as helping them hold the highest market share in its country of origin since March 2015. This pits the company squarely between two of the main players in the smart device industry: Samsung and Apple.
The smartphone models that helped propel sales was none other than the Huawei P8, Huawei Mate S, and the company's first-ever Google-centric smartphone, the Nexus 6P.
The Nexus 6P is essentially the phone that gave Huawei the break they needed to really enter into the North American market, especially after many years of suspicion and accusations of espionage and governmental subterfuge by the U.S. government. Not surprisingly, the phone was also well received by more than 60 different countries and regions, and was given the ‘Editor's Choice' awards by several publications around the world.
