a tad bit of lag, while we were playing Shooty Skies – especially when the screen started to get congested with enemies and projectiles. But apart from that, apps in general were quick to load and close, and they ran as smooth as butter.
What we particularly liked about the G8, though, was its fingerprint sensor, which is located right below its 13MP f/1.8 rear camera module. It's fast, accurate, and we didn't need to consciously remind ourselves to explicitly position our index finger right on its center for it to work. In fact, the G8's fingerprint sensor works intuitively enough to the extent where we'd be willing to use it in place of our trusty PIN code lock. The fingerprint sensor of the G8 isn't just a one trick pony, mind you, as it can be used for a variety of different purposes as well, such as answering calls, capturing photos, and bringing down the notifications panel.
And that leaves us with the G8's benchmark scores. It managed to attain a score of 3,438 on PCMark; 22,267 on Quadrant; and 36,364 on AnTuTu. Over on 3DMark, the G8 scored 115 for the Sling Shot ES 3.0 benchmark, 5,424 for the Ice Storm Extreme benchmark, and 7,773 for the Ice Storm Unlimited benchmark. Finally, the G8 completed the Epic Citadel benchmark on Ultra High Quality with an average framerate of 30.8 fps.
