Sony Sells More Than 35.9 Million PlayStation 4 Consoles Worldwide
If you can recall, back in December, we penned a feature article about how 2016 will be an exceptionally great year for the PlayStation 4, primarily because it had a number of exciting exclusive games going for it throughout the year, and the fact that the PlayStation VR is scheduled for release as well.
What we didn’t expect, though, is for the festivities to begin so early into the year, as Sony Computer Entertainment announced last month that it has shipped more than 35.9 million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide as of January 3, 2016. What’s even more impressive is that out of the total 35.9 million units, a whopping 5.9 million of them were shipped during the 2015 holiday season alone, which lasted from November 23, 2015 to January 3, 2016. If you were to do the math, that translates to 143,902 PlayStation 4 units being sold each day for 41 consecutive days, which is truly an impressive achievement.
“We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PS4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season and that the PS4 community is growing more than ever,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
