Oculus Rewards Initial Backers with Special ‘Kickstarter Edition’ Oculus Rift
Oculus has definitely come a long way since it launched the Kickstarter fund for the Oculus Rift VR headset in 2012, a time when people were still mighty dubious about the whole concept of virtual reality.
But despite the odds (and apprehension) that were stacked against them, Oculus managed to secure enough funds from the community to begin development of the Oculus Rift, which, after four long years, is finally ready for primetime.
Oculus isn’t one to casually forget the backers who have invested and supported them throughout their journey, which is why they’re rewarding them with a gift that’s unlike any other: a ‘Kickstarter Edition’ Oculus Rift.
Unfortunately, not all backers are entitled to receive the ‘Kickstarter Edition’ Oculus Rift, as it will only be given to those who have pledged enough for an Oculus Rift development kit, which was going for US$275 (approx. RM1,210) back when the Kickstarter campaign was still ongoing. Bundled together with the ‘Kickstarter Edition’ Oculus Rift are two Oculus-ready games: the 3D platformer, Lucky’s Tale, and the multiplayer ltiplayer dogfight game that’s set in outer space, ace, EVE: Valkyrie.
Oculus began taking pre-orders for the Oculusulus Rift through its official website lastt month, which by the way, happens to be priced at an eye-watering US$599 (approx. prox. RM2,652). You’ll get the same two aforementioned games for free when you preorder one, but even if you had the cash to spend, Malaysia is unfortunately not amongst the list of 20 countries that Oculus will be shipping the Rift to. If you’re adamant enough, howev however, you can always take the risk and opt to use a freight forwarding service to get t the job done instead.
