That’s the shin­ing prom­ise of AI. To­day, such an AI is still a long way off. We don’t know enough about achiev­ing true ar­ti­fi­cial gen­eral in­tel­li­gence to even sketch out a de­vel­op­men­tal path­way. Many the­o­ries lie rooted in thought ex­per­i­ments, or science fic­tion. But one thing is clear – it’s never too early to be­gin think­ing about how to con­tain an in­tel­li­gence that’s be­yond our fathom.
