Face­book Cel­e­brates 900 Mil­lion User Mark with New Tools for Mes­sen­ger

96 HWM | M AY 2 0 1 6 Face­book re­cently an­nounced that they now have 900 mil­lion monthly ac­tive users us­ing their so­cial me­dia net­work. In lieu of this mile­stone, Face­book pub­licly launched new tools for the Mes­sen­ger app, which now al­lows friends and busi­nesses to con­nect with each other.

More specif­i­cally, the new tools in­clude Face­book's new Mes­sen­ger Code and Mes­sen­ger Links. Mes­sen­ger Links is de­signed to pro­vide busi­nesses with a quick and easy way of start­ing a thread between users and po­ten­tial busi­ness part­ners. As ex­plained on their page:

“Mes­sag­ing a busi­ness di­rectly is a fast and con­ve­nient way for peo­ple to get in touch with ques­tions about prod­ucts and ser­vices, ap­point­ments, cus­tomer ser­vice ques­tions and more. Plus, it al­lows busi­nesses to build per­sonal con­nec­tions with the peo­ple who are in­ter­ested in them.”

Mes­sen­ger Code works in rel­a­tively the same way, but dif­fer­en­ti­ates it­self by pro­vid­ing unique codes that peo­ple can scan in Mes­sen­ger, and thus

U Mo­bile sub­scribers will be glad to know that the telco is giv­ing its sub­scribers free ac­cess to Waze from now un­til De­cem­ber 31, 2016. The telco of­fi­cially en­tered into a part­ner­ship with the GPS com­pany, and now sub­scribers will be able to use Waze with­out the app eat­ing up their mo­bile data. “Our cus­tomers will be en­cour­aged to play a more ac­tive role in up­dat­ing traf­fic sit­u­a­tions in Malaysia via Waze as their data quota will not be uti­lized,” Jas­mine Lee, U Mo­bile's Chief Mar­ket­ing Of­fi­cer said. au­to­mat­i­cally be­gin­ning their dis­cus­sions with a va­ri­ety of busi­nesses.

Lastly, Face­book will also be launch­ing Mes­sen­ger Greet­ings as a means of im­prov­ing com­mu­ni­ca­tion with peo­ple on both Face­book and Mes­sen­ger. To put it sim­ply, Greet­ings en­ables users to make cus­tom­iz­a­ble notes for the busi­nesses, and these notes will es­sen­tially ap­pear in a new mes­sage thread be­fore the ac­tual mes­sage is sent.
