Samsung Introduces 3D NAND 256GB EVO Plus microSD Card
Memory controllers are a necessity for every solid-state drives (SSDs) ever made. Without them, those ultra-fast load times would be near impossible to attain for everybody's favorite slim storage device.
But all that's been changed, thanks to Samsung's recently announced 256GB EVO Plus microSD card. Unlike other microSD cards, the EVO Plus is fitted with a 48-layer 3D TLC V-NAND, rather than the more traditional planar NAND.
“With the upward trend of consumers using highperformance, high-capacity mobile devices, our new, V-NAND-based 256GB microSD card solution allows us to deliver the memory card consumers have been craving,” said Un-Soo Kim, Senior Vice President of Brand Product Marketing, Memory Business at Samsung Electronics. “Our EVO Plus 256GB microSD card, will provide consumers with large capacity, and high read and write speeds. We are excited to offer our customers convenient and seamless multimedia experiences when they access, store and share all of the content they create and capture.”
The 256GB EVO Plus is classified as a UHS-1 Class 10 card, and offers up to 95MB/s and 90MB/s of sequential read and write speeds, respectively. This makes the card ideal for high-resolution photography, as well as capturing videos in 4K resolution or 360-degree VR. The card will be available within this month for an approximate price of RM1,000. 98 HWM | JUNE 2016
