Shop smart with ShopBack
ShopBack to make shopping easier with AWS CloudSearch service.
Online shopping company ShopBack has begun using the new CloudSearch service from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in order to enhance the online shopping experience for its customers.
Specifically, ShopBack subscribed to AWS’ Elastic Stack and X-Pack cluster package, which are considered the premium package of its service. After obtaining assistance from the AWS Elastic team in implementing the clusters, the company then reported significant improvements in its performance, taking consumers as short as one millisecond for any search, and just four seconds when pulling up store listings.
“We’ve migrated from Elasticsearch 2.4 to 5.0 and not only has performance improved but we now have a schema for multi-country, multi-lingual search. This has aided our expansion into Indonesia and Taiwan where we support local languages,” said Alberto, Resco Perez, Engineering Manager at ShopBack.
ShopBack also recently implemented a new cluster of the Elastic Stack to simplify logging and metric collection. In the past, ShopBack had used Papertrail, AWS Cloud Watch and New Relic to collect and analyze various metrics. However, the combination of all three solutions made it expensive and complex to scale.
“In the past, we had limited visibility into our environment. The Elastic Stack and additional monitoring and alerting capabilities of the X-Pack has resolved that and helps us to detect and resolve issues so much faster,” said Alberto. “It also helps us to analyze user behavior so we can scale our systems and meet demand.”
