Meet the Phase One IQ3 100MP Achromatic.
There's something about black and white photos that give them a sense of mystery, which is why many photographers still shoot in black and white today. With that in mind, Phase One launched the world's first 101MP achromatic digital back that captures absolutely no color information.
Known as the IQ3 100MP Achromatic, this digital back is compatible with the Phase One IQ3 XF camera system, and with other camera bodies as well. It offers a top ISO of 51,200, making it the most lightsensitive medium format digital back in the market today.
As mentioned, this digital back captures no color information as the 101MP sensor was produced without a Bayer color filter. Not only does this allow the sensor to capture more light, it also allows the sensor to capture more details. It's also worth mentioning that there is no infrared cut-off filter, which means that this digital back can capture light outside the visible spectrum, which is great news for photographers who would like to explore more creative photography options.
Other features include an electronic shutter, long exposure of up to 60 minutes, HDMI output, and Wi-Fi connectivity. There are limited numbers of this device currently, and each is priced at US$49,999 (approx. RM216,026). Those interested to get it with a camera can opt for a bundle, which includes a Phase One XF IQ3, the digital back, and a complimentary Schneider Kreuznach Blue Ring prime lens for US$54,990 (approx. RM237,590).
The Phase One IQ3 100MP Achromatic digital back shoots purely black and white images.
