Smart city Cyberjaya
Cyberjaya is first LoRa-powered smart city in Southeast Asia.
Cyberview Sdn Bhd and Atilize Digital Sdn Bhd announced that Cyberjaya is the first smart city in Southeast Asia to utilize a city-wide long range (LoRa) network to connect various IoT sensors. Following a collaboration between the two to build, operate and commercialize LoRa network in Cyberjaya in August last year, eight environmental sensors have been successfully installed in Cyberjaya, with two more slated for installation by the end of May.
The installation of temperature and humidity sensors enables the measurement of the surrounding air, helping prevent elements like periods of heatwave affecting the community. With the PM2.5 sensors installed, Air Quality Index can be monitored in real time to be communicated to the community, helping individuals with medical problems from getting their conditions worsened by poor weather.
Other solutions using LoRa-based sensors that will later be implemented include a Smart Parking solution. This will help inform residents and visitors of Cyberjaya of available parking spots, either via a smartphone app, in-car app or digital signage.
Users are also now able to view real-time data extracted from the environmental sensors from the public dashboard, which can be found at www.cyberjayamalaysia.com.my/aqi.
