The renowned NAS maker unveiled several new DiskStation models, but the two that caught our eyes were the 2-bay DS718+ and 4-bay DS918+. Both were redesigned to simplify HDD swapping, and share the same quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Celeron J3455 processor, DDR3L memory (2GB on DS718+, 4GB on DS918+), along with dual-channel 4K H.254/H.265 video transcoding capability, and on-the-fly volume expansion with the optional DX517.
We also chanced upon the VisualStation VS960HD, which is a compact PC-less surveillance system. Once connected to Surveillance Stations, the interface allows up to 100 live feeds to be simultaneously monitored, while snapshots of recorded events can be exported to an external storage device with ease.
For SSD caching, there are two M.2 2280 NVMe slots underneath the DS918+ with removable covers for easy installation.
The VisualStation VS960HD is designed to operate within industrial temperature ranges.
