WipEout: Omega Collection

Gorgeous graphics

The classic WipEout games have been remastered for the PlayStation 4. The visuals are so clear to the point you can read the little texts that are on the ships. Players can choose between

WipEout 2048, WipEout HD and WipEout HD Fury. It matters not which edition that you choose to play, as you are going to be stunned by the fantastic remastered graphics. For a layout that was deemed futuristic in the 90’s, the improved graphics make it look as modern as ever. If you’re playing on the PS4 Pro, then the 4K visuals are bound to blow your mind. Zero gravity nostalgia It’s hard to believe that

WipEout made its debut 22 years ago. The gameplay is incredibly smooth and evokes all the feelings you felt before if you’ve played the original PS1 racing title in the past. You also will not have much trouble getting used to the game if you’re a newcomer. However, the game is all about super speed, so expect your ship to collide with the side of the track periodically if you aren’t able to harness the speed. On the other hand, certain aspects of the gameplay are rather confusing. When weapons are picked up, it is rather unclear if the player picked it up, or if

the other racers have acquired it. This is because every time a weapon is gained, the host will announce it. After the announcement, there is this fear that your ship will be hit with other opponents’ weapons, which happened to this reviewer several times. In terms of modes, we found that the terrain of WipEout

2048 the easiest to navigate compared to WipEout HD and

HD Fury. The speed was easier to control and there were minimal collisions. That being said, there is nothing wrong with the other two modes. Electic soundtrack Another thing fans love about WipEout is its unique soundtrack. The soundtrack contains music that graced previous versions of the game, such as those from The Chemical Brothers, as well as newer tracks. The tracks are mostly electronic, so it’s a fitting soundtrack when players get their adrenaline levels pumping when they race. Sony themselves have said it was in the DNA of the original WipEout games to introduce new artists to their worldwide audience.
