When we're away from home, anxiety can creep into our heads and plant the scariest of thoughts. We will never know what is going on, or who could be lurking about in our safe space. Fortunately, D-Link puts our worries to rest with the DCS-2530L Full HD 180-degree IP camera.

The DCS2530L sports a modern, minimalist look, and is cute to boot. There is an adjustable handle that connects the camera to its mountable base, allowing a certain degree of flexibility. Just like its simple design, setting up the camera was just as easy. First, it is mandatory to download the mydlink Lite app to your mobile device to get started on home surveillance. Next, we scanned the QR code on the configuration card and

then connected to the SSID network shown. From there, we connected to our local network and the setup was complete.

With that out of the way, the DCS-2530L offers a wide number of impressive features, including a Wi-Fi signal locator that indicates the best spot to place the camera. A light at the south section of the camera will blink from amber to green, where amber signifies a weak signal and green indicates a strong signal.

The camera has a wide 180-degree field of view to provide an extensive coverage. This is achieved through the use of de-warping technology. With the mydlink Lite app, you also can monitor your home in 1080p quality. Alternatively, you can also set the viewing quality to a lower resolution like 480p or 720p. The video turns out crisp and clear, with minimal distortion. Thanks to built-in sound and motion detection, push alerts will notify you when the camera picks up any loud noises or motion in its sweep.

One of the most impressive features of the DSC-2530L is its night vision capability. Even in poor lighting conditions or places with no light, the camera uses infrared LEDs for you to make sense of what’s going home at home, even in absolute darkness, up to 16 feet. The inclusion of microSD card support, on the other hand, allows for up to 128GB worth of recorded footage.

The only drawback to the camera is that it does not offer two-way communication. That being said, the camera is still a worthwhile purchase, and will provide peace of mind whenever you leave home for long periods of time.
