So there you have it. On one hand, the ASUS ROG Strix X299-E Gam­ing is a HEDT moth­er­board that sits squarely on the fence be­tween power and per­for­mance, strik­ing a bal­ance be­tween gam­ing-cen­tric func­tions and pro­duc­tiv­ity-based tasks. On the other hand, it is also a moth­er­board that could’ve clearly been given far more use­ful fea­tures, such more ports in its rear I/O, as well as U.2 ports. Through­out the test­ing pe­riod, the moth­er­board’s per­for­mance was also sta­ble, with no signs of bot­tle­neck­ing hap­pen­ing at any given time be­tween it and the CPU.
