PIKOM re­port de­tails hir­ing and salary growth rates in the lo­cal ICT in­dus­try.

PIKOM re­cently pub­lished its 1 th Edi­tion ICT ob Mar­ket Out­look in Malaysia 2 17 re­port, which serves as a guide for or­gani ations to plan and ob­serve their ICT tal­ent cri­te­ria. ccord­ing to the re­port, there is a 4. per­cent in­crease of the av­er­age ICT pro­fes­sional’s monthly salary from 2 15 to 2 1 . PIKOM pre­dicted that this year’s growth rate will in­crease by .7 per­cent.

PIKOM also joined forces with Job­street.com to put to­gether the re­port, where Job­street.com pro­vided in­for­ma­tion based on job post­ings where em­ploy­ers were look­ing to hire ICT pro­fes­sion­als. PIKOM then ex­am­ined the av­er­age salaries of ICT pro­fes­sion­als in ve job cat­e­gories across 22 in­dustries. The ICT sec­tor’s over­all share to the econ­omy is ex­pected to grow from 17.8 per­cent in 2 15 to 18.2 per­cent in 2 1 . ICT ser­vices are the driv­ing force be­hind the growth, and are pro­jected to es­ca­late from M 1.4 bil­lion in 2 15 to M 4 bil­lion in 2 1 .

Dur­ing its ICT job mar­ket re­search, PIKOM found that only the se­nior man­ager cat­e­gory ex­pe­ri­enced a growth rate in­cre­ment from 2 15 to 2 1 . The rest of the cat­e­gories en­coun­tered a slight de­crease, with fresh grad­u­ates ex­pe­ri­enc­ing the big­gest de­crease from 5.3 per­cent in 2 15 to 3.7 per­cent last year.

There is also a sec­tion of the re­port that touches on the hir­ing trends revolving around the num­ber of job post­ings for the ve job cat­e­gories in the 22 in­dustries. In 2 1 , there were a to­tal of 11,227 job open­ings for ICT pro­fes­sion­als. Most of the open­ings were ac­ces­si­ble to pro­fes­sion­als in the ju­nior and se­nior ex­ec­u­tive cat­e­gories, while the en­try-level cat­e­gory suf­fered a drop of per­cent.
