PIKOM report details hiring and salary growth rates in the local ICT industry.
PIKOM recently published its 1 th Edition ICT ob Market Outlook in Malaysia 2 17 report, which serves as a guide for organi ations to plan and observe their ICT talent criteria. ccording to the report, there is a 4. percent increase of the average ICT professional’s monthly salary from 2 15 to 2 1 . PIKOM predicted that this year’s growth rate will increase by .7 percent.
PIKOM also joined forces with Jobstreet.com to put together the report, where Jobstreet.com provided information based on job postings where employers were looking to hire ICT professionals. PIKOM then examined the average salaries of ICT professionals in ve job categories across 22 industries. The ICT sector’s overall share to the economy is expected to grow from 17.8 percent in 2 15 to 18.2 percent in 2 1 . ICT services are the driving force behind the growth, and are projected to escalate from M 1.4 billion in 2 15 to M 4 billion in 2 1 .
During its ICT job market research, PIKOM found that only the senior manager category experienced a growth rate increment from 2 15 to 2 1 . The rest of the categories encountered a slight decrease, with fresh graduates experiencing the biggest decrease from 5.3 percent in 2 15 to 3.7 percent last year.
There is also a section of the report that touches on the hiring trends revolving around the number of job postings for the ve job categories in the 22 industries. In 2 1 , there were a total of 11,227 job openings for ICT professionals. Most of the openings were accessible to professionals in the junior and senior executive categories, while the entry-level category suffered a drop of percent.
