Gart­ner: De­mand for 4G smart­phones in­creased growth for emerg­ing mar­ket in Q2 2017

A re­cent Gart­ner re­port on global smart­phone sales re­vealed a surge in de­mand for smart­phones in emerg­ing mar­kets had led to a spurred growth in sales dur­ing Q2 2017. Specif­i­cally, smart­phone sales dur­ing that quar­ter to­taled 366.2 mil­lion units, with An­droid de­vices ac­count­ing for 87.7 per­cent of the mar­ket, with 12.1 per­cent be­ing Ap­ple’s iPhones. "Al­though de­mand for util­ity smart­phones re­mains strong, there is grow­ing de­mand in emerg­ing mar­kets for 4G smart­phones, with more stor­age, bet­ter pro­ces­sors, and more ad­vanced cam­eras,” com­mented An­shul Gupta, Re­search Di­rec­tor, Gart­ner.
