Uber Malaysia rolls out UberFLASH and UberTAXI services.

HWM (Malaysia) - - IGNITION -

Uber recently launched two new services in the Klang Valley area, called UberFLASH and UberTAXI. UberFLASH greatly shortens waiting times as riders are connected to the nearest ride, be it an uberX or a taxi cab, while paying the same fare as an uberX ride. UberTAXI, on the other hand, allows users to hail a taxi straight from the Uber mobile app. However, the fare is based on the taxi meter rates enforced by the Land Public Transport Commision (Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat).

According to Warren Tseng, General Manager of Uber Malaysia and Singapore, these new features expand the idea of ride sharing, benefiting riders, driver-partners, and the city. He also believes that shorter waiting times lead to an increased demand for rides. Taxi drivers spend less time idling, and now have the chance to earn more income for themselves.

Similarly with Uber driver-partners, taxi drivers on the Uber app will undergo a background check. This is in line with Uber's commitment to maintain its high standards for vehicles, as well as its driver-partners. Known features like customer support and the two-way rating system still remain.

Riders in Klang Valley may take advantage of Uber's newest features by launching the Uber app, key in their destination, confirm their pickup, and select the UberFLASH or UberTAXI option.
