MCIS ZURICH IN­SURANCE BER­HAD’S CEO RETIRES

The Malaysian In­surance In­sti­tute re­ceived a let­ter from En­cik Md Adnan Md Zain an­nounc­ing that he will re­tire from his em­ploy­ment as the Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of MCIS Zurich In­surance Ber­had ef­fec­tive from 15 Oc­to­ber 2012.

En­cik Md Adnan joined MCIS ZURICH in April 2005 as its Deputy CEO and was sub­se­quently ap­pointed as CEO in Fe­bru­ary 2006. He sat on the Board of Malaysian Life Rein­sur­ance Group Ber­had. He be­gan his ca­reer in the bank­ing in­dus­try with Stan­dard Char­tered Bank (SCB) in 1981. Whilst serv­ing the SCB Group, he held var­i­ous se­nior po­si­tions, in­clud­ing a post­ing to head a key re­gional cor­po­rate bank­ing project based in Stan­dard Char­tered Bank, Hong Kong from 1990 un­til 1992. He was the Head of Global Elec­tronic Bank­ing, re­port­ing di­rectly to the Group Head Of­fice in Lon­don, prior to leav­ing SCB in 1995. He also sub­se­quently held var­i­ous key man­age­ment po­si­tions within the bank­ing in­dus­try, in­clud­ing be­ing the Act­ing CEO of Al­liance Mer­chant Bank in 2003. En­cik Md Adnan re­mains in his po­si­tion as the Di­rec­tor of The Malaysian In­surance In­sti­tute.
