In many in­dus­tries in Asia, the In­ter­net is evolv­ing from be­ing purely an in­for­ma­tion and com­mu­ni­ca­tion medium to an im­por­tant dis­tri­bu­tion chan­nel. In prop­erty and ca­su­alty in­sur­ance, more and more in­sur­ers in Asia have used the In­ter­net as a dis­tri­bu­tion chan­nel, and the por­tion of pre­mium in­come from this chan­nel is grow­ing. In the life in­sur­ance in­dus­try, some pi­o­neer in­sur­ance com­pa­nies in Asia have used the In­ter­net as a dis­tri­bu­tion chan­nel for more than ten years, but the por­tion of pre­mium in­come from this chan­nel is still very small.
