TEM­PO­RARY, CON­TRACT STAFF IN CIVIL SER­VICE TO EN­JOY PRO­TEC­TION, BEN­E­FITS UN­DER PERKESO

Source: Ber­nama, 14 July 2013 THE gov­ern­ment is ex­pected to spend RM30 mil­lion ev­ery year to pro­vide so­cial insurance cov­er­age un­der the Per­tubuhan Ke­se­la­matan Sosial (PERKESO) to about 63,000 con­tract and tem­po­rary staff in the civil ser­vice. Deputy Hu­man Re­source min­is­ter, Datuk Is­mail Mut­talib said civil ser­vants on con­tract or tem­po­rary em­ploy­ment can now con­trib­ute to PERKESO start­ing June 1 and en­joy the pro­tec­tion and ben­e­fits pro­vided. PERKESO is a so­cial se­cu­rity pro­tec­tion by so­cial insurance in­clud­ing med­i­cal and cash ben­e­fits, pro­vi­sion of ar­ti­fi­cial aids and re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion to em­ploy­ees to re­duce the suf­fer­ings and to pro­vide fi­nan­cial guar­an­tees and pro­tec­tion to the fam­ily. Is­mail said con­tract and tem­po­rary staff would be pro­vided pro­tec­tion un­der PERKESO and also re­ceive ben­e­fits, just like nor­mal civil ser­vants.
