Source: New Sabah Times, 26 September 2013 Recently, the Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) and the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong) signed a collaborative agreement with the aim to reach out further in creating awareness on financial consumer protection to the Chinese community. As part of the collaboration, the organisations will jointly hold five briefing sessions on the financial consumer protection systems it administers, namely the Deposit Insurance System (DIS) and the Takaful and Insurance Benefits Protection System (TIPS), in various locations throughout the country. Puan Rozita Ahmad, its General Manager of Communications and Public Affairs Division of PIDM, the collaborative programme is part of PIDM’s ongoing initiatives to futher enhance public awareness of PIDM, DIS and TIPS and to promote confidence in the stability of the financial system in Malaysia. She added that PIDM has collaborative arrangements with the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Association (FOMCA), The Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) and a number of its member institutions. The briefings with Hua Zong have started in Alor Setar, Kedah, followed by Kuantan, Pahang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Batu Pahat, Johor and ending on 23 November 2013 in Bintulu, Sarawak. This programme aims to enlighten the Chinese community especially those from the smaller towns, to learn more about the financial consumer protection provided by PIDM.
