Source: New Sabah Times, 26 Septem­ber 2013 Re­cently, the Per­badanan In­surans De­posit Malaysia (PIDM) and the Fed­er­a­tion of Chi­nese As­so­ci­a­tions Malaysia (Hua Zong) signed a col­lab­o­ra­tive agree­ment with the aim to reach out fur­ther in creat­ing aware­ness on fi­nan­cial con­sumer pro­tec­tion to the Chi­nese com­mu­nity. As part of the col­lab­o­ra­tion, the or­gan­i­sa­tions will jointly hold five brief­ing ses­sions on the fi­nan­cial con­sumer pro­tec­tion sys­tems it ad­min­is­ters, namely the De­posit In­surance Sys­tem (DIS) and the Taka­ful and In­surance Benefits Pro­tec­tion Sys­tem (TIPS), in var­i­ous lo­ca­tions through­out the coun­try. Puan Rozita Ah­mad, its Gen­eral Man­ager of Com­mu­ni­ca­tions and Pub­lic Af­fairs Divi­sion of PIDM, the col­lab­o­ra­tive pro­gramme is part of PIDM’s on­go­ing ini­tia­tives to futher en­hance pub­lic aware­ness of PIDM, DIS and TIPS and to pro­mote con­fi­dence in the sta­bil­ity of the fi­nan­cial sys­tem in Malaysia. She added that PIDM has col­lab­o­ra­tive ar­range­ments with the Fed­er­a­tion of Malaysian Con­sumers As­so­ci­a­tion (FOMCA), The Malaysian In­surance In­sti­tute (MII) and a num­ber of its mem­ber in­sti­tu­tions. The brief­ings with Hua Zong have started in Alor Se­tar, Kedah, fol­lowed by Kuantan, Pa­hang, Kota Kin­a­balu, Sabah, Batu Pa­hat, Jo­hor and end­ing on 23 November 2013 in Bin­tulu, Sarawak. This pro­gramme aims to en­lighten the Chi­nese com­mu­nity es­pe­cially those from the smaller towns, to learn more about the fi­nan­cial con­sumer pro­tec­tion pro­vided by PIDM.
