AGCS SIN­GA­PORE AP­POINTS NEW HEAD OF ENGINEERING FOR ASIA RE­GION

Source: Al­lianz Global Cor­po­rate & Spe­cialty (AGCS) Press Re­lease, 14 Novem­ber 2013 On Novem­ber 18, Chris van Gend was ap­pointed the new Re­gional Man­ager Engineering Asia for Al­lianz Global Cor­po­rate & Spe­cialty (AGCS). In this new role, Chris is re­spon­si­ble for AGCS Engineering Un­der­writ­ing across the Asian Re­gion and is based in AGCS’s Sin­ga­pore of­fice. Prior to join­ing AGCS, Chris was Head of the Asia Pa­cific Hub for Catlin’s En­ergy and Con­struc­tion lines of busi­ness, re­spon­si­ble for the de­vel­op­ment, man­age­ment and un­der­writ­ing of the On­shore En­ergy & Con­struc­tion port­fo­lios in Asia Pa­cific. Dur­ing his nearly 20 years of ex­pe­ri­ence in the insurance in­dus­try, Chris held a range of un­der­writ­ing roles in Aus­tralia and Sin­ga­pore, in­clud­ing en­ergy, con­struc­tion and ma­rine. AGCS is tar­get­ing growth for its engineering busi­ness across Asia with spe­cial­ist AGCS teams in Sin­ga­pore, Ja­pan and Hong Kong, and with the sup­port of Al­lianz com­pa­nies in China, In­dia, In­done­sia, Malaysia, Thai­land and Laos. The com­pany al­ready in­sures a wide range of engineering risks in the re­gion, sup­port­ing clients in many sec­tors in­clud­ing con­struc­tion, re­new­able en­ergy, power and util­i­ties, oil and gas, heavy in­dus­tries, ma­jor heavy civil engineering and in­fra­struc­ture projects, and trans­porta­tion sys­tems in­clud­ing rolling stock.
