PIAM HR Di­a­logue with Mem­ber Com­pa­nies

The as­so­ci­a­tion also or­gan­ised a di­a­logue with hu­man re­sources Heads of its mem­ber com­pa­nies on 22 Oc­to­ber 2013 in Kuala

Lumpur. The di­a­logue ses­sion was to up­date the HR man­agers on some of the key ac­tiv­i­ties/ini­tia­tives that PIAM Ed­u­ca­tion/HRD Sub-com­mit­tee is em­bark­ing on, and to gather rel­e­vant feed­back and ini­tia­tives that its mem­bers would like to share with the in­dus­try. The ses­sion cov­ered the pre­sen­ta­tion from the YMTT on the de­vel­op­ment of the Think Tank to date. The MII had also shared an overview and high­lighted the key project mile­stone of the In­te­grated Learn­ing Man­age­ment Sys­tem (ILMS) Project, which is one of the Ca­pac­ity Build­ing Ini­tia­tives of MII. The other item dis­cussed was the Cen­tralised In­duc­tion Pro­gramme (CIP) ini­ti­ated by the Task Force formed un­der the PIAM Ed­u­ca­tion/HRD Sub-com­mit­tee. The ob­jec­tive of the CIP is to har­monise, im­prove and el­e­vate the qual­ity, as well as to im­ple­ment a sus­tain­able long-term in­tern­ship pro­gramme, in the gen­eral insurance in­dus­try for young en­trants. This will ori­en­tate fresh tal­ent in the insurance in­dus­try with some com­pre­hen­sive knowl­edge on the in­dus­try and its op­er­a­tions. The ses­sion was well re­ceived by the par­tic­i­pants and it pro­moted net­work­ing and shar­ing of in­for­ma­tion amongst the HR per­son­nel of PIAM mem­ber com­pa­nies with rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Ed­u­ca­tion Sub-com­mit­tee and the YMTT. Close col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween the as­so­ci­a­tion and its mem­bers is im­por­tant to en­sure a joint ef­fort in meet­ing the re­quire­ments of insurance com­pa­nies and the in­dus­try as a whole.
