Iam happy to share that the fresh look of INSURANCE magazine has been well received throughout the industry. It is humbling to hear such kind words on how a sleek new design has breathed fresh new life into a magazine that has clearly stood the test of time. In this ‘Marketing’ themed issue, we spoke to our cover story, Thomas Wong, as he shared his valuable insights on manoeuvring through the distribution trenches as well as tackling the ever growing Gen Y population. Accumulating almost 40% of the Malaysian population, the Gen Y’s are not to be overlooked as the insurance industry races to fulfil its 75% national penetration rate by the year 2020. Another interesting article in this issue is the Big Bang Digital Disruption, which showcases the vast amount of changes that will inevitably take place over the coming years. Digitalization is something that has begun in the West and it is pertinent that we pay attention to the challenges and opportunities that may arise within the industry from this effect. The author, Hugh Terry, an experienced business development professional with 20 years experience in Asia covering insurance companies, delves deep and provides fundamental insight on the topic. The rest of the issue explores a vast array of topics that include Claims Occurrence, Peer Assist, India’s Insurance Market, General Insurance and industry news among many other things. I’d also like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude to all our contributors. Your keen interest in industry knowledge as well as yearning to share and grow as a collective community is what inspires us to put together this magazine each month with care. That being said, I would also like to invite all members of the insurance industry in Malaysia to contribute, engage and participate in this community’s bi-monthly magazine.
