MII 36th Annual General Meeting
The Malaysian Insurance Institute held its 36th Annual General Meeting on the 18th June 2014 at the Concorde Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The AGM was chaired by its Deputy Chairman, Dato’ Adrian Loh Heong Chow , CEO, Dato’ Haji Syed Mohbeeb Syed Kamarulzaman and Secretary, Mr. M. Chandrasegaran A/L S. Murugasu. In attendance were over 100 members of MII. Dato’ Haji Syed reiterated MII’s mission to be the preferred insurance institute for human capital development and professional standards in insurance in Malaysia and emerging markets. He also stressed the importance of raising the professional standards, delivering effective human capital development programmes, promoting insurance knowledge and information, providing a platform for social and networking opportunities and supporting national agendas in promoting insurance training and education. Dato’ Haji Syed also presented an overview of highlights and activities, showcasing the positive outlook MII have had as a training provider, examination centre, professional body, knowledge centre and Secretariat of AITRI. A brief overview of a web based learning system (iLMS) was also presented as a capacity building initiative. Other achievements for MII in the year 2013 included the new MII City Centre at Wisma Sime Darby, career videos on insurance and takaful which are now featured on the new and enhanced MII website. The AGM ended with the signing of an MOU between MII and PT. Asuransi Jasa Indonesia.
MOU SIGNING WITH JASINDO
PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia better known as Jasindo Insurance signed a memorandum of understanding in relation to collaborative works in promoting and providing education, training, examination and further enhancement of insurance knowledge and skills development with MII. The MOU was signed by CEO of MII, Dato’ Haji Syed Moheeb bin Syed Kamarulzaman and Budi Tjhahjono, President Director of Jasindo Insurance at a signing ceremony held after the Malaysian Institute of Insurance’s Annual General Meeting 2014 held at the Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The MOU reaffirms the commitment of MII and Jasindo to the objective of human capital development and emphasizes the importance of efficient dissemination of knowledge, as well as promoting effecting economic cooperation within the region through providing professional qualification and educational training.
