SET FOR A BIG 2016
As Europe’s technology sector continues to attract investment – there is good reason to be confident that more start-up businesses will make the grade. Here are 5 businesses from across Europe for whom 2016 looks set to be a big year.
Blacklane offers users a professional service via its app and website, allowing people to book a reliable, fully-insured driver service, with no Uber-style surge pricing, for a cost that is often cheaper than a traditional taxi cab. The start-up expanded across the US in 2015, adding 36 American cities, and now reaches over 300 airports worldwide – more than Uber or Lyft. Blacklane was cofounded by Jens Wohltorf, a former principal at the Boston Consulting Group and Frank Steuer, previously a managing director at SemperLink GmBH and founder of startup Firstfon. The company expanded rapidly in 2014 with its “100 cities in 100 days” campaign, successfully launching its service in 100 different cities across the globe in just over three months.
