The world’s l argest and oldest i ce hotel is rebuilt every year i n December, and nearly everything — from the walls, to the beds, to the glasses at the bar — is made out of the cold stuff. The original I CEHOTEL, Sweden, was founded in 1989. It’s an art exhibition and hotel made of natural ice and snow from one of Europe’s l ast wild rivers, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. The hotel melts and returns to Mother Nature in spring. Check into one of the two-person snow rooms, where all the furniture is made f rom snow and i ce ( the beds are padded with warm bedclothes) and ask for the Northern Lights alarm – staff will wake you if the Aurora is spotted.
