Located in a beautiful old mansion in Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Tun Razak area, the décor and service are reminiscent of those in colonial India. (Sadly, Bombay Palace’s sojourn in the grand old bungalow has come to an end, and it will be moving to new premises in Life Centre, come 2015.)

• The creamy lamb pasanda comes with succulent cubes of meat cooked in a rich creamy almond gravy that goes beautifully with rice and bread.

• The bhindi masala, slices of okra sauteed with onions, herbs and spices, is outstanding, as is the angoori kofte, made up of cottage cheese croquettes stuffed with raisin and simmered in an aromatic saffron gravy.
