Malaysia Tatler Wedding

At First Sight

When Findy Limpid visited Malaysia for the first time, little did she know that she would be meeting her future spouse Lionel Leong

After successfully surprising his sweetheart with an unconventional proposal, Lionel Leong tied the knot with Findy Limpid in a massive ceremony

While general consensus states never to judge a book by its cover, both Findy Limpid and Lionel Leong’s first impressions of one another were mostly accurate.

“My first impression of him was that of a shy gentleman,” said Findy. “And I am glad he is still the same gentleman whom I thought he was—the shy part though, not so much anymore!”

In similar fashion, Lionel recognised his soul mate straight away. “There was this little voice inside me that said, ‘She is the one,’” he confessed. “But the rational side of me took control and said I should get to know her better. So I did just that, and discovered that we share the same values, goals for the future, and love for God.”

Lionel, son of Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum and Puan Sri Sulvian Leong, and Findy, doting daughter to Nonvie Lee and Liem Kian Hoo Limpid, tied the knot in a wisteriathemed wedding at the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur. A highlight of the ceremony was their first dance, deemed to be their first mini project together.

“There was this little voice inside me that said, ‘She is the one,’” confessed Lionel Leong

Proving that there is no achievement sans toil and trouble, Lionel and Findy named the surprise engagement and prewedding photo shoot as two memorable events leading up to the big day.

Lionel’s challenge was to outsmart his sweetheart, whom he knew was clever enough to see through any half-baked plans to propose.

“She would have figured me out before I even set foot off the plane!” he said. Nevertheless, he succeeded in surprising her by playing a pre-recorded video of himself at his sister’s birthday party.

“I had no idea!” confessed Findy, as she recalls, “We were halfway through the video when something went wrong with the sound system. While trying to figure out how to fix it, a different video suddenly appeared. In that video was the same man, looking very nervous as he told me how much he loved me, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him—and the rest, as they say, is history!”
