Glory of Love

Malaysia Tatler - - EDITOR’S NOTE - — Elizabeth Soong Managing Editor

As far as weddings go, we’ve always been fascinated by royal weddings—the glamour, the wedding finery and the high-profile guests. This September, we’re honoured to have Tengku Shaheera of the royal house of Pahang and her dashing groom Dimash Serikov, share their love story in the month they’re due to be wed. Two peas in a pod, find out how they met and what led them to discover that he/she is the one, by turning to page 142. If this has whetted your appetite for weddings, I invite you to take a look at the celebrations of two couples. The fairy tale-like ceremony of Mah Kok Wah and Angelyn Chong’s nuptials is simply breathtaking (page 66), while the yachtrace theme of Shazwan Fadhli and Syairah Abdul Malek was creatively conceptualised (page 72). Naturally, the next progression would be to build a home, and we’ve got you covered, with our Art of Living special (page 188 onwards) which includes tips and tricks to transforming your abode, a coveted list of properties worth investing in, plus a peek into an Italian-themed holiday home in Penang for some inspiration. Speaking of inspiration, we’ve got a good lineup of personalities who have turned their passion into a thriving business. From shoe-lover Dato’ Normah Ibrahim to edupreneur Vishen Lakhiani and entrepreneur Timothy Tiah, their goal is to find their purpose in life, and these self-starting individuals have done just that. For Vishen, his goal is two-fold—as a parent he also wants his kids to have a future where they can thrive and be happy despite their ethnicity. Isn’t this the end goal for most of us? To be happy? This is what Timothy has been grappling with, as he realised that he was no longer happy and passionate about his work. Check out his personal account in our new column, Expressions (page 180), where we invite our readers to share their life stories in hopes that it will benefit others who are facing the same issue. Whether it’s overcoming roadblocks in our lives, learning from mistakes, or even finding one’s fulfilment —it’s our innate human desire to know that we are living a life of significance, and at the same time we want to leave the world a little better than we found it. So if you have a personal story worth sharing, please write me at elizabeth.soong@edipresseme
