The cult favourite BBC show Doctor Who caused waves and major talking points after the announcement that a woman, Jodie Whittaker, will be taking over the role of the traditionally male Doctor. The show has been dropping hints in its latest series, with the 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi talking about the possibility of a female reincarnation. “It’s more than an honour to play the Doctor.” said Whittaker, who is known for her roles in Broadchurch, Black Mirror, and Venus. “It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can’t wait.”
