Bold lips are an autumn requisite, and it’s safe to say that they have returned full force this season. Blood red lips were the centre of focus at Giambattista Valli, which was aptly paired with “natural, hot, sexy, sweaty” skin. Val Garland used a mix of M·A·C’s Mineralize Charged Water Face and Body Lotion and Mixing Medium Shine to create a glossy effect on the skin, and brushed the brows upwards with a coat of clear lip gloss. To achieve the perfect blood red shade, Val first lined the lips with a burgundy lip pencil, then layered a combination of three different lipsticks on top – a cherry red, a brownish terracotta and a luscious plum. The matte coral lips at Eudon Choi were a case of “sisters not twins”, with each model wearing slightly different variations of the look. Makeup artist Adam de Cruz mixed two shades of M·A·C Retro Matte liquid lipsticks in random ratios, and topped it off with M·A·C Pigment in Genuine Orange for a neon-like finish. Elsewhere, black gothic lacquer lips were spotted at Marc Jacobs.
