Better known by her pseudonym Girl Grey Beauty, Canadian makeup artist Andrea Reed’s signature style in her lip art is clean lines, bold patterns and generous use of colour. With about 340,000 Instagram followers to date, her remarkable designs are largely inspired by famous pieces of art like Katsushika Hokusai’s Great Wave Off Kanagawa, and even everyday things like plants and pottery. Using her own lips as a canvas, Reed transforms them into stunning patterns, prints and pictures, all of which are enhanced with vibrant hues. She uses a combination of extensive makeup palettes and ultra-fine makeup brushes to create her detailed looks. She is also more than happy to share her lip art secrets with her fans by posting how-to tutorials on her social media. “Lip art is so enjoyable to me because it’s such a challenge. To produce something I am happy with, given such a small, difficult canvas, is very rewarding. And my followers seem to love them too!” she exclaimed.
