Pickford attracting interest from big clubs
Jordan Pickford is being heavily coveted, with several Premier League sides interested in the Sunderland goalkeeper and Gareth Southgate considering handing him an England callup this month.
Southgate was at Goodison Park last week to watch the 22year-old play on his return from a two-month knee injury.
Everton are among those keeping track of Pickford — while Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool may also be in the market for a new shot-stopper this summer.
Pickford was included in England’s senior squad for their World Cup qualifier with Slovenia in October after Burnley No 1 Tom Heaton withdrew with a minor injury.
Southgate could call him up again. The England boss plans to name his squad for this month’s international fixtures on March 16 — six days before England travel to Dortmund to face Germany in a friendly.
Pickford’s stock has risen at the Stadium of Light despite their troubles this season. It is unlikely that Sunderland will be able to hold on to their academy product this summer, particularly if they drop down to the Championship.
