HONDA ROLLS OUT THE NEW CITY
HONDA Malaysia recently unveiled the new City after it began receiving bookings about a month ago. Available in the S, E and V variants, the car, which has been leading the segment, is said to bring the C-segment features at B-segment pricing.
The new City has numerous upgrades inside out. For instance, the top-of-the-range V variant is now equipped with full-LED headlights and LED fog lights in the front, and LED guide lights at the rear.
LED daytime-running lights are now standard across the range. The new City can also be distinguished by its third brake light, which is integrated into its duck-tail spoiler.
The wheels comprise 15-inch alloys for the base S and mid-E variants, while the top V variant rides on 16-inch alloys.
The interior is designed with a “Human maximum, machine minimum” concept that prioritises cabin space for its occupants.
Standard interior features on the new City include a “smart entry” with push-start button, ECON button, automatic retractable side mirrors, advanced multi-info combination metre, height-adjustable driver’s seat, 60:40 foldable rear seats and one-touch signal.
The E and V variants also come with touch panel auto air-con, rear air-con vents and centre armrests. Leather seats, upholstery, steering wheel and gear knob are uniquely for the V variant.
The new City is powered by the familiar 1.5-litre SOHC engine with iVTEC, churning out 120hp and 145Nm of torque. It is paired to the company’s Earth Dreams CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission).
The efficient power train has enabled the new City to obtain the Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) status.
While the base S comes with a standard audio unit, the E and V are fitted with a 6.8-inch display audio, The S and E variants have four speakers while the V variant has eight.
Safety wise, the car is decently equipped with front airbags, threepoint seatbelts, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Stop Signal and the ISOFIX.
Five colours are available to suit the drivers’ taste - Lunar Silver Metallic, Dark Ruby Red Pearl, Taffeta White, Modern Steel Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl.
The new City is sold between RM78,300 and RM92,000. According to Honda Malaysia, despite the comprehensive upgrades on the City, it managed to retain the current price.
The company also aims to sell around 2,000 units each month and believe that they are on track to achieve 100,000 sales target for this year.
