HONDA Malaysia re­cently un­veiled the new City af­ter it be­gan re­ceiv­ing book­ings about a month ago. Avail­able in the S, E and V vari­ants, the car, which has been lead­ing the seg­ment, is said to bring the C-seg­ment fea­tures at B-seg­ment pric­ing.

The new City has nu­mer­ous up­grades in­side out. For in­stance, the top-of-the-range V vari­ant is now equipped with full-LED head­lights and LED fog lights in the front, and LED guide lights at the rear.

LED day­time-run­ning lights are now stan­dard across the range. The new City can also be dis­tin­guished by its third brake light, which is in­te­grated into its duck-tail spoiler.

The wheels com­prise 15-inch al­loys for the base S and mid-E vari­ants, while the top V vari­ant rides on 16-inch al­loys.

The in­te­rior is de­signed with a “Hu­man max­i­mum, ma­chine min­i­mum” con­cept that pri­ori­tises cabin space for its oc­cu­pants.

Stan­dard in­te­rior fea­tures on the new City in­clude a “smart en­try” with push-start but­ton, ECON but­ton, au­to­matic re­tractable side mir­rors, ad­vanced multi-info com­bi­na­tion me­tre, height-ad­justable driver’s seat, 60:40 fold­able rear seats and one-touch sig­nal.

The E and V vari­ants also come with touch panel auto air-con, rear air-con vents and cen­tre arm­rests. Leather seats, up­hol­stery, steer­ing wheel and gear knob are uniquely for the V vari­ant.

The new City is pow­ered by the fa­mil­iar 1.5-litre SOHC engine with iVTEC, churn­ing out 120hp and 145Nm of torque. It is paired to the com­pany’s Earth Dreams CVT (Con­tin­u­ous Vari­able Trans­mis­sion).

The ef­fi­cient power train has en­abled the new City to ob­tain the En­ergy Ef­fi­cient Ve­hi­cle (EEV) sta­tus.

While the base S comes with a stan­dard au­dio unit, the E and V are fit­ted with a 6.8-inch dis­play au­dio, The S and E vari­ants have four speak­ers while the V vari­ant has eight.

Safety wise, the car is de­cently equipped with front airbags, three­p­oint seat­belts, ABS, EBD, Brake As­sist, Ve­hi­cle Sta­bil­ity As­sist, Hill Start As­sist, Emer­gency Stop Sig­nal and the ISOFIX.

Five colours are avail­able to suit the driv­ers’ taste - Lu­nar Sil­ver Metal­lic, Dark Ruby Red Pearl, Taf­feta White, Mod­ern Steel Metal­lic and Crystal Black Pearl.

The new City is sold be­tween RM78,300 and RM92,000. Ac­cord­ing to Honda Malaysia, de­spite the com­pre­hen­sive up­grades on the City, it man­aged to re­tain the cur­rent price.

The com­pany also aims to sell around 2,000 units each month and be­lieve that they are on track to achieve 100,000 sales tar­get for this year.
