ACTIONER ‘J REVOLUSI’ TAKES IN RM1.4m IN THREE DAYS
Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar speaks to TAHIR ALHAMZAH about the audience’s encouraging reception to ‘J Revolusi’
ACTION flick J-Revolusi has recorded RM1.4 million at the box office after only three days of screening.
Produced by Grand Brilliance and Infinitus Productions, it premiered last Thursday.
“We’re excited to see such a good response from moviegoers, making the risk we took when embarking on this project worth it,” said Primeworks Studios chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar yesterday.
“We even hired a Hong Kong stunt director, who worked in the martial arts movie Ip Man. He has also worked with stars like Aaron Kwok.
“It’s just the first weekend and we are extremely grateful to all those who have watched the movie.”
Izham said the most frequently heard feedback from the audience was about the cast’s acting.
“Moviegoers were impressed with Izara Aishah’s performance. Zul Ariffin, who rose to prominence with his roles in romantic dramas, also took the audience by surprise.
Much of the comic relief came from Azad Jasmin, who delighted many.
“And Farid Kamil as the baddie was also impressive,” he said.
Izham is hopeful that J Revolusi has, in its small way, encouraged people to return to the cinemas.
“I hope the movie will serve as an inspiration for others to produce films that attract audiences.
“I’ve been told that most of the audience enjoyed the fight scene between Zul and Farid’s characters.”
On a possible sequel, Izham said there were plans to make J
Revolusi a huge brand and a sequel was definitely on the cards.
“In fact, prior to the movie’s release, we were discussing the possibility of a TV series spin-off. Basically, we are thinking of that as our next move, he said.
Izham also said that audiences who had stayed till the credits would have noticed the name of Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, who acted as the adviser for J Revolusi.
“J Revolusi is for everyone. It is not targeted at one particular market segment.”
J Revolusi is showing in more than 120 cinemas nationwide.
