Padi farmer who ran amok gets 5 years’ jail, rotan
A padi farmer was sentenced by the Sessions Court here yesterday to five years’ jail and one stroke of the rotan for six offences, including voluntarily causing hurt to a policeman, when he ran amok in January.
Mohd Nizam Mat Saad, 39, from Behor Empiang, pleaded guilty to all six charges before judge Azman Abu Hassan.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Amril Johari prosecuted while Nizam was represented by lawyer Zuhair Ahmad Zakuan.
It was reported that on Jan 25, Nizam had run amok when policemen arrived at his home at 4.45pm in response to a domestic abuse report by his wife.
