Syahrin will fine-tune his new bike, the 2017 Kalex, in a three-day test in Jerez, Spain, starting today.

The Petronas Raceline Malaysia rider said: “I am going to utilise the test days to synchronise my bike and get the best fit possible.’

Hafizh first laid eyes on his new riding companion when his team held their own unofficial test on Feb 27.

Last year, Hafizh’s performance was affected by a nagging chattering problem in his bike.

However, the problem has been fixed with a new chassis as Hafizh competes in his fourth season in Moto2.

“The new bike is certainly reacting positively and it’s far more stable than the one I had last year,” he said.

In what could be his last chance to ride for Petronas Raceline Malaysia, Hafizh must fight for a podium finish this year to earn his MotoGP slot for 2018

The Moto2 and Moto3 teams will gear up for the 2017 season with the Circuito de Jerez first to host the intermediate and lightweight classes on March 8-10, followed by a second official test at Losail International Circuit in Qatar, the weekend ahead of the first grand prix.
