Malaysia backs Yemen’s efforts
Malaysia supports Yemen’s efforts in ending the conflict in the republic.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who met Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister Abdulmalik Abdul Jalil Al-Mekhlafi yesterday, expressed the country’s support for efforts undertaken by the Yemen special envoy to the United Nations.
“Malaysia has condemned attacks against the public and infrastructure, such as schools and hospitals, in Yemen,” he said.
“Malaysia contributed US$100,000 (RM445,000) in humanitarian aid during the OIC foreign ministers extraordinary meeting in Jeddah in 2015.”
As of March 1, Zahid said there were 5,779 Yemeni students in Malaysia and 300 Malaysian students in Yemen.
