Dortmund boss admits to ‘freaking out’ seeing Nou Camp fiesta

New Straits Times - - Sport -

Thomas Tuchel thought his Borussia Dortmund side had performed spectacularly in their Champions League tie against Benfica on Wednesday. That was until he saw Barcelona, of course.

The Bundesliga outfit overcame a 1-0 deficit from the first leg by blitzing their Portuguese counterparts 4-0, but their performance was completely overshadowed by the stunning events at the Nou Camp.

Luckily, Borussia Dortmund had already done their job and the players returned to the dressing room just in time to witness history unfolding. Screams were heard outside and Tuchel later admitted that the whole team were ‘freaking out’.

He told Viasat: “Everyone was freaking out. It was 4-1 when we left the pitch, I came to my office and it was 5-1. I mean, I love Barcelona. No offence to Paris, I love Paris Saint-Germain as well.

“Everyone was watching and we could feel it, you know, and we were just excited because we won 4-0 so everyone was celebrating.

“Suddenly the ball was coming and it was a goal and it was no offside. We thought we were spectacular but these guys... sorry.” Daily Mail
