Mihas expects sales to surpass last year’s RM1.14b
Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) is optimistic that next month’s Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas 2017) will generate sales of more than the RM1.14 billion achieved last year.
Matrade chief executive officer Dr Mohd Shahreen Madros Zainooreen said the halal industry had been gaining strong momentum over the past decade and much of the robust growth was driven by high
demand from Muslims and nonMuslims.
“Year-on-year, we expect between four and eight per cent growth in halal exports. Last year, we managed to record a growth of 4.2 per cent,” he told a press conference at the unveiling of Mihas 2017’s logo, here, yesterday.
Shahreen said the new logo reflected Mihas’s progress in keeping up with the times and market dynamics.
