Nazri agrees to debate with Dr M
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz has agreed to a debate with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on controversies involving Bumiputera Malaysia Finance and 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
The tourism and culture minister, who is attending the International Travel Bourse event in Berlin, Germany, yesterday said he would prepare for the debate once he returned to Malaysia on Monday.
“I will accept unconditionally and leave it to Dr Mahathir to arrange everything. My only request is for him to discuss the date with me,” Nazri told the New
Straits Times yesterday.
The former prime minister has challenged Nazri to a debate after rejecting the latter’s challenge to contest the Langkawi parliamentary seat.
Dr Mahathir, who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman, was recently appointed the party’s Langkawi division chief.
Meanwhile, a news portal reported that Dr Mahathir was looking forward to the debate and wanted it to be held in Nazri’s home ground in Padang Rengas, Perak.
An aide said details of the arrangement would be submitted to Nazri’s office soon for confirmation.
