On­line sales top US$700,000 in 6 months

KUALA LUMPUR: On­line shop­ping is grow­ing rapidly and the Malaysian econ­omy is the fastest grow­ing on­line mar­ket­place with sales of the top mer­chants touch­ing more than US$700,000 (RM3.12 mil­lion) in the last six months.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, global deals plat­form Pay­lesser said mo­bile shop­ping had be­come more pop­u­lar as re­vealed in its re­cently-pub­lished web­site traf­fic data for Septem­ber last year to Fe­bru­ary.

“About 55 per cent of the 250,000 vis­i­tors used smart­phones, 38 per cent used desk­tops and seven per cent used tablet per­sonal com­put­ers to reach Pay­lesser Malaysia web­site,” it said.

In terms of de­mo­graph­ics, it said 21 per cent of to­tal cus­tomers were in the age bracket of 18 to 24 years old, 49 per cent was be­tween 25 and 34 years old and 17 per cent be­tween 35 and 44 years old.

Dur­ing the pe­riod un­der re­view, Pay­lesser’s user base com­prised 50.35 per cent males and 49.65 per cent fe­males.

Pay­lesser chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Suneet Manchanda said the com­pany aimed to pro­vide the best-sav­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for all on­line shop­pers in Malaysia.

Pay­lesser has more than 100,000 deals and coupons for over 5,000 mer­chants glob­ally where in Malaysia, it of­fers more than 1,500 deals for on­line re­tail­ers, such as Lazada, Zalora and Agoda.
